Fuel indexing

What's involved?
Against a backdrop of soaring raw material prices, we are forced to apply a fuel indexation charge to baggage and passenger transport bookings.

What is the activity period on my route?
Chemin de Saint Jacques: mid-March to early November.

Vehicle delivery

Where do I leave my vehicle?
When you arrive at the pick-up point, you will park your vehicle with the accommodation provider or near the accommodation. We ask you to leave the exact parking location in the envelope with the keys and vehicle papers. Any parking charges are at your own expense.

Am I insured in the event of an accident?
The vehicle must be insured for all drivers: it's as if you were lending your vehicle to a friend. So it's your insurance that works.
Rest assured, all our drivers are experienced and have their license 😉

Can you transport my caravan?
Unfortunately not: we can convoy most vehicles that can be driven with a B license, excluding trailers, caravans, motorhomes...

Rental car
Please note that we will not be able to escort your rental vehicle unless your rental contract clearly states that you are authorized to have your vehicle driven by a third party.
If in doubt, ask your rental agency.
For company cars, express written authorization from your employer is required.

Regulations

Reservation payment
Payment must be made at least one week (7 days) before the start date of your services with les valises de saint jacques.
We accept the following means of payment:

  • Credit card (Visa or Mastercard)
  • Check
  • Bank transfer
  • Species

Last-minute payment on the way
When you book your last-minute transport, once you're on your way, we'll ask you to pay for the service over the phone using a credit card number or in cash, which we'll collect from your luggage in a pocket you specify.

Cancellation and refund

Passenger transport cancellation
All passenger transport reservations may be cancelled by the customer under the following conditions:

  • 48 hours before performance: no compensation
  • 24 hours before the service: compensation due by the customer to aux valises de saint jacques of 50% of the price of the service ordered.
  • less than 24 hours before the service is due to be rendered: compensation due by the customer to aux valises de saint jacques of 100% of the price of the service ordered.

In accordance with the above cancellation conditions, we will refund any overpayment.
A €5 handling fee will be applied to all cancelled bookings.

Baggage transport cancellation
All baggage transport reservations may be cancelled under the following conditions:

  • up to 7 p.m. the previous evening: no charge
  • the evening before, after 7 p.m. or on the same day: the customer pays aux valises de saint jacques 100% of the price of the service ordered.

A €5 handling fee will be charged for any cancelled reservation.

How do I get my money back?
By bank transfer: we will ask you to send us a bank details form by email.
By credit card: for refunds of less than €50 (only in our branches or by telephone.

Are pets allowed?
Yes, just let us know when you make your reservation. Your pet must travel on the ground and never sit on the vehicle bench. A cleaning charge of €5/pet will be applied.

Can I take my bike?
No, we are this day unable to manage your bike, sorry 🙂

Luggage transport

What types of accommodation do you serve?
We serve most of the following accommodations in the immediate vicinity of your itinerary: hotels, gîtes, B&Bs and campsites.
Before requesting transportation, you must have confirmed your accommodation reservation.

Pick-up and drop-off times
We ask that luggage be available every morning at 8am in the accommodation you have booked.
Your luggage is deposited before 5pm in the accommodation you have indicated.

When to book?
As soon as possible! We advise you to send us your itinerary as soon as it has been finalized. Once all your stages have been established and all your accommodation booked, you can send us your request.

Is it possible to book on a day-to-day basis?
Yes*. If you haven't planned your itinerary, since you don't know exactly (depending on your state of fitness, the weather, etc.) how your hike will go, it's always possible to call us the day before before 6:00 p.m. to have your luggage transported the next day.

I'm going the wrong way, can you carry my luggage?
Luggage is generally carried in the "normal" direction of travel.
However, in certain cases, we can transport luggage in the opposite direction. Please contact us for details.

What size should my luggage be?
We recommend the use of a sports bag, backpack or carry-on suitcase no larger than 60x30x40.
In all cases, please ensure that your luggage is easy to carry with one hand.

Luggage weight
We ask that each piece of luggage weighs no more than 14kg and consists of a single piece.
If your luggage is overweight, we will ask you to lighten it or to pack a second piece, which will be charged extra.

How do I identify my luggage?
When your luggage is first picked up, it must be identified so that our driver can recognize it among the other luggage that may be present in the accommodation where you will be staying.
The name to be indicated on the labels must be that of the person who made the reservation, and this applies regardless of the number of pieces of luggage to be transported!
