Convoying a vehicle
Where do I leave my vehicle?
When you arrive at the pick-up point, you will park your vehicle at the accommodation or near the accommodation. We ask you to leave the precise parking indication in the envelope with the keys and the vehicle papers. Any parking fees are at your expense.
Am I insured in case of an accident during the escort ?
The vehicle involved in the convoying must be insured for all drivers: it is as if you were lending your vehicle to a friend. It is therefore your insurance that works.
Rest assured, all our drivers are experienced and have their license 😉
Can you drive my caravan ?
Unfortunately not: we can transport most of the vehicles that can be driven with a B license, except trailers, caravans, motor homes...
Please note that we will not be able to drive your rental car unless your rental contract clearly states that you are authorized to drive by a third party.
If you have any doubts, it is best to ask your rental agency.
For company cars, an express written authorization from your employer is required.
Payment of the reservation
The payment must be made at least one week (7 days) before the date of the beginning of your services with the valises de saint jacques.
We accept the following payment methods:
- Credit card (Visa or Mastercard)
- Bank transfer
Last minute payment, once on the way
When you book your last minute transportation, once you are on the way, we will ask you to pay for the service over the phone with a credit card number or in cash that we will collect from your luggage in a pocket that you specify.
Cancellation and refund
Cancellation of passenger transportation
All reservations for passenger transportation can be cancelled by the customer under the following conditions:
- 48h before the performance: no compensation
- 24 hours before the service: compensation due by the client to Les valises de saint jacques for 50% of the price of the service ordered
- less than 24 hours before the service: compensation due by the customer to Les valises de saint jacques up to 100% of the price of the service ordered
According to the cancellation conditions indicated above, we will reimburse you the overpayment.
A handling fee of 5€ will be applied to all cancelled reservations.
Cancellation of luggage transportation
All luggage transport reservations can be cancelled under the following conditions:
- until the evening before, before 7pm: no compensation
- the evening before, after 7 p.m. or the same day: compensation due by the customer to the valises de saint jacques up to 100% of the price of the service ordered
A handling fee of 5€ will be applied to any cancelled reservation.
How do I get my money back?
By bank transfer: we will ask you to send us a bank account number by email.
By credit card: for reimbursements of less than 50€ (only in agency or by phone.
Are pets allowed?
Yes, just let us know when you make your reservation. Your companion will have to travel on the ground and never get on the seat of the vehicle. A cleaning fee of 5€/pet will be applied
Can I take my bike?
No, we are this day unable to manage your bike, sorry 🙂
What types of accommodations do you serve?
We serve most of the following accommodations in the immediate vicinity of your itinerary: hotels, bed and breakfasts, and campgrounds.
You will need to have confirmed your accommodation reservations prior to requesting transportation.
Pick-up and drop-off time
We ask that luggage be available every morning at 8am in the accommodation you have booked.
Your luggage is dropped off before 5pm in the accommodation you have indicated.
When to book?
As soon as possible ! We advise you to send us your itinerary as soon as it is completed. Once all your stages are established and all your accommodations reserved, you can make your request.
Can we book on a daily basis?
Yes*. If you haven't planned your trip, since you don't know precisely (depending on your state of health, the weather, etc.) how your hike will go, it is always possible to call us the day before before before 6:00 pm for the transportation of your luggage the next day.
I'm going the wrong way, can you carry my luggage?
Luggage is generally transported in the "normal" direction of the hike
However, in some cases, we can transport luggage in the opposite direction of the path. Please contact us.
What size bag should I take?
We recommend the use of a sports bag, backpack or carry-on suitcase whose dimensions do not exceed 60x30x40.
In all cases, please make sure that the luggage can be easily carried with one hand.
We ask that each piece of luggage does not exceed 14kg and is made up of one piece.
In case of overweight, we will ask you to lighten your luggage or to pack a second piece of luggage which will be charged extra.
How do I identify my luggage ?
When you first pick up your luggage, it must be identified so that our driver can recognize it among the other luggage that may be present in the accommodation in which you will be staying.
The name to be indicated on the labels must be that of the person who made the reservation and this is valid whatever the number of luggage to be transported!
